Review: Corsair SCIMITAR RGB mouse

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/25/2016 12:34 PM | source: | 18 comment(s)

We review the Corsair Gaming SCIMITAR RGB gaming mouse, the device is sturdy in design, aesthetically pleasing with configurable RGB LEDs and has a grip that is intensely impressive. The looks are all about the configurable thumb buttons though as that jumps out like a cannon. The high DPI (up-to 12,000) mouse is fully programmable from A to Z. It might be the most remarkable mouse’s we have seen and tested to date!

Read the review right here.

Above an Ultra HD videoof the mouse  - give it some time to look at and we'll cycle through some color options and animations available with the CUE software.

Why the heck does it always have to be humongous thumb panels ? The only ones who have done an 13 button mouse without that are Logitech with the G700/G700s. I kinda hate being stuck with that, since Logitech button switches tend to break, but there is absolutely no alternative. So if my G700s dies, it'll be just another one.

Corsair Gaming Scimitar RGB Mouse Still Not Tracking Correctly (4/3/2016)

I've found several sources that claim that the Corsair Gaming Scimitar RGB Mouse's tracking has been fixed, and that it is now tracking correctly. The Scimitar is not fixed.

I took my Scimitar out of the box again today, updated the CUE driver software and the firmware to the current versions and tested the mouse against my Razer Naga 2014 by drawing thin diagonal lines in Windows Paint. The Scimitar still traces highly stair-stepped diagonal lines, indicating that the tracking problems have not been fixed. The tracking issue is less apparent at lower DPI, say, around 4000. At that DPI, and the Razer Naga at 8200, it is difficult to notice the Scimitar's tracking errors. But at 8000 DPI and higher the Scimitar's tracking errors are very noticeable.

I urge Guru3D to do their own testing and to look further into this issue. If it is found that the mouse has a tracking problem as I and others have described, then for sake of their credibility, they should add that information to the review.
