Review: Corsair Obsidian 500D chassis

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/22/2018 11:04 PM | source: | 7 comment(s)

Corsair just released what we find to be an exceptional chassis, meet the Corsair Obsidian 500D PC Case as we review it. The PC case was fitted with two tempered glass side-panel doors that can be opened up at the front side, it also includes aluminum elements, at 139 USD, it isn't that expensive either.

The doors look like they were pulled from the 'concept slate' design from a while back:

I love the way they open - I hope they launch a slightly larger variant of this design for a ~700D or whatever refresh. I want something smaller than my 900D but I still want to be able to fit my quad rad.. if that's even possible.

I've become wary of cases that have no fans in the side door above the PCIe slots. My old Silverstone KL-03 kept everything fabulously cool with that. The tower that I had before that was one of the very first that had fans there. My new case doesn't, and things get quite hot, even though there's plenty of ventilation.
