Review: ASUS GeForce RTX 2080 DUAL OC 8G

GeForce RTX 2080 is expensive, so how will a more affordable version behave then? We test the DUAL 8GB OC model from ASUS, that really isn't even half bad.

Great job Nvidia on getting a smidge above 1080Ti performance 2 years later for more than the cost of a 1080ti at launch.

+1 for lack of rgb (makes it look less childish) and you've got to love those F1 performance figures.

I paid $720 for my 1080 ti watercooled in 2017. With my system and oc it is on par with rtx titan in games. VR performance is great especially with water cooling to keep high fps longer. Pascal was a good investment for ppl not wanting rtx cores. Hope RTX prices come down soon.

this is a necessary addition to the rtx stable.
but to me it's ugly as sin...and rgb isn't a big deal to me.
as far as functionality, imho coil whine is unacceptable at 850 euros/dollars.

yeah i have a bug up my butt about noise as i'm an audiophile and a necessary function for all computers that i own is to flawlessly play and record lossless audio.
so i applaud Asus for having a less glitzy model...but if their highly touted automated production line produces whiny cards that is a serious knock on their perceived quality.

What is your Vega running at because I cant find 1 bench where it beats a 2080 in this review I am hoping next Vega is awesome.
I was lucky i swapped a 1080ti for a RTX2080 and the 2080 is slightly quicker in my system compared to my old MSI 1080ti Gaming X
when they were both overclocked the 2080 wins but only just.
but the 2080 slaughters the 1080ti when it comes to temps mine is at core 2100 and it sits at 50c whilst gaming with my fans at 40% and I cant hear it

I thought my one is a pretty average Asus Dual OC. but it turned out a quite good one then.

I did replace it's factory rubbish cooler to a Kraken G12+Corsair H110 on it as the temperatures were way worse then the tested one here.
So far so good! :)

Sorry, cant muster any enthusiasm for a 2080, whether AIB or ref. Cant wait for the Radeon VII review. As of now this has to be the dullest GPU period for enthusiasts in years. The lead up to RTX was kind of like the period waiting for the much delayed Fermi, which when arrived, was a hot, loud, power hungry so-so kind of release. At least there were no shocker price tags for it. And it was useful as a hot plate for your coffee in the morning :D.

Lucky you! :)
My one topped out at 76-77 degrees in my cold room (room temperature is about 18-19 in winter)
So I cannot imagine what could have happened to this card in summer. And honestly I did not even want to wait with it.
Kraken G12+Corsair H110+4pcs of 140mm 1200rpm push/pull fans and since I never seen it above 45 degrees with my custom OC :)
But I've had to say goodbye to the factory guarantee :(

Thats make no sense to do a side "upgrade" from a good MSI Gaming X 1080 TI. "New tech" will matter after 1 year, maybe.
