6800 is nice, but 6800XT can blow it out of the water due to the fact that it's way more overclockable with less constraints on power.
The jump from 67n0XT to 6800 is not very big, but the jump from 6800 to the XT can be a lot bigger.

I've tuned my 6800XT to nearly 6950XT stock performance (for benchmarking), under normal gaming conditions it stays underclocked to save power.

However, that's already two price tiers above the price of the newly launched 7600 or 6700XT, so despite the massive gains in performance (and more memory), some people might simply not have enough money for it.
But if they do, 6800XT is the card to get if looking for long term performance on a reduced budget, until stock runs out. (Yes 6950XT is faster but also more expensive sometimes by over $100... and same memory. Probably not worth paying the extra) *

If that's too pricey, then I agree with the ones above that recommend 6700XT. Best choice at lower price.
In this performance tier, RT is completely irrelevant, so I'm not even considering any of the "cheap" nvidia cards (and 3060 non Ti is the only one that has enough memory, but has too weak core)

*(don't look at the review here at the Performance per Dollar (based on MSRP) page, it's completely pointless, those MSRP prices have not been valid for a long, long time)


That`s very cool but not every card has the same overclocking potential.

My XFX 6950XT can boost to 2800Mhz but my previous Saphire version struggled to break the 2700Mhz barrier.

And my XFX also undervolts much better than the Saphire did.

Not to mention the horrible coil whine from the Saphire card...


All this to say that buying a card while expecting it to overclock/underclock like a champ doesn`t seem a good "bet" to me.

rt runs fine on 6800+fsr or 3060ti + dlss, as long as you don't use every effect at ultra. rtgi + rt reflections will work fine on both. tested and confirmed. enabling shadows or any other third effect might push it a little too far from 60.
