Return rates less than 5% after GeForce GTX 970 VRAM Exposure

Return rates less than 5% after GeForce GTX 970 VRAM Exposure

The last couple of weeks have been havoc in regards the mess Nvidia created with the GeForce GTX 970 VRAM mess. Over the past few weeks we have been talking with distributors here in the Benelux, and we are hearing that merely a handful of cards are in a return status with the bigger players. John Peddy research however claims this number is as high as 5 %.

Jon Peddie from JPR stated: "I have heard as many as 5 per cent of the buyers are demanding a refund from the AIB suppliers", a quite from Kit-Guru. Retailers are reporting just 1-2%, with two of the UK's biggest retailers offering refunds for the GPU, where they have until the end of this month to box up their GTX 970 and return it. Keep one thing in mind, not all resellers are actually offering the option to return the card, some of them do .. some don't.

So it seems that in the US the return rates are higher opposed to what we are seeing in the EU, and that number includes the regular RMAs as well. If you like to learn more about the VRAM where 3.6 GB is fast memory and the last 512MB is considered a slow partition alongside some down-scaling specs wise, have a peek here.

Percentage wise the Nvidia's reputation, we are sure, has a higher value damage wise.

I get weird feeling, that AMD section is place where people should announce their new nVidia hardware.

Wonder if I should do same with my next GPU.

why? :D they are already announcing that there XD

Returned my SLI 970's today. Now my only choice is to decide what to get. Wait for the 390x and run my ole GTX 285 or get the 290x to hold me over.... I do game SOM, FC4, and AC:U so I'd have to curb those games til I got the 390x if I wait. Last option would be to just go for it and get me a 295. Kinda sucks but I couldn't stand the frame drops and stuttering anymore at 1440p. For the longest time I kept blaming it on SLI issues or game code issues. Oh well, onto something better. Good luck to Ngreedia in the future, they've lost a customer.

How do you know it's not multi GPU or gaming code issues though?

It would not surprise me if the the next few months most people find out the hard way that alot of games just don't have the great code or multi gpu support.

Because it does not happen until you are over that 3.5gb memory usage. It's the same results as Hilbert found, the issue is extremely magnified when SLI is used since the cards have more than enough to push graphics past that memory usage.

You know Hilbert when I read in NV forums they can return there card keep there card get money some money back.. do you know know how many take that offer up?

I dont know ONE person that has this card has had any problems.. like me none other then the reg problems all video cards get.

Just get to see the true colors of people..some.. yet hard to tell whos who with text.

Wanted to add "
due to the card being falsely advertised".. again no one I know bought this card based on this "falsely advertised". They SOME inturn lie get money back to get a 980.
