Resident Evil Village sets new record 100K simultaneous players on PC

Resident Evil Village sets new record 100K simultaneous players on PC

Resident Evil Village had a really good launch on PC, breaking the barrier of 100,000 simultaneous players on the platform, thus setting a new record for the series.

Capcom's title reached 101,726 simultaneous players on its opening day, last Friday, according to SteamDB . That makes it the highest peak reached by any Resident Evil at its launch on PC. Who held the record so far was Resident Evil 2 Remake, with 74,227 players , and a little further behind Resident Evil 3 Remake, with 60,293.

SteamDB is showing Village as one of the top 15 games being played right now, only beaten out by unsurprising performers like Rust, Rainbow Six Siege, and Grand Theft Auto 5. It's unsurprising to see Village performing so well with the likes of Lady Dimitrescu proving that we've all probably been in a pandemic for a little too long.

Check our graphics card performance analysis here.

Yeah, they've had their own cheap camera/perspective tricks.

It's called ''fixed camera'', I will take that any time over forced first person with locked and very low fov. What's next, RE9 with locked fov of 60?

I can play FPS games no problem, but not with such low and locked fov. They should really add fov slider, was that so hard, if you gonna force me into very low fov cuz game has to try to be scary.. that's just cheap to me.

It's like saying that Silent Hill 4: The Room was the scariest entry from the series cuz it was in first person mode with low fov too, guess what it's the least scary entry of the series lol

The slider would be nice, but I can see why they wouldn't add it. And no, fixed cameras and tank controls were cancer.

You can't change fov which is super low, no matter if it's demo or full game, if you can't understand that some people have motion sickness then I don't know.

https://www.polygon.com/2017/1/25/14388452/resident-evil-7-motion-sickness

This is old article about RE7 which has fov 91, but guess what.. Village has even lower fov (81) which is locked.

Older RE games (RE1-3 and RE1/RE0 Remake) were immersive without those cheap camera/perspective tricks.

Literally the first result when I google "RE8 FOV adjustment":

https://gamerjournalist.com/resident-evil-village-where-to-find-the-m1911-and-jack-handle/

How to change the Field of View (FOV) in Resident Evil Village

The field of view settings in Resident Evil Village (RE8) are locked, so here is how you can change them:

Download Lazy FOV and Vignette Fix mod.
Extract the app somewhere.
Launch your game, and then launch the mod.
Adjust the settings in the mod.
Your game settings will update accordingly.

Luckily, a few modders could solve the problem of a locked field of view settings slider reasonably quickly with a few tweaks. The mod is also tested and working on the official release of RE8. Using the ‘Lazy FOV and Vignette Fix’ mod via NexusMods, players can adjust their FOV to a more traditional 90-degree setting or even go above and beyond if they desire.

Here’s all the features the Lazy FOV and Vignette Fix mod for Resident Evil Village offers:

FoV sliders that update the in-game FOV in real-time.
Separate FoV sliders for base FOV and zoom FOV
Vignette sliders that update the in-game vignette in real-time.
Update agnostic.
Remembers last set FoV and vignette, and auto-sets.

The instructions are pretty clear from the website: download and extract the tool somewhere, and open it after you start your game. Change the sliders on the mod, and your in-game FOV and Vignette settings will change accordingly.

''Tank controls'' were the best! :D Plus playing on hard mode, or invisible enemy mode in RE1 Remake, oh my god pure ecstasy xD

Ah yeah, using mods to improve the game, I know this feeling too much :P

Hehe some cameras where in a really bad spots . That said i liked re 123 4 ...5 meh ..6 i have no memory of 6 i think i never touched it , 7 i liked a lot but my preference is RE 2 >1 >3>4 &7 >5 .... Code Veronica i never finished it in the weekend a friend borrowed me his dreamcast and then forgot about it :p , yeah tank controls and and bad cameras but somehow i loved em. XD although personal taste .... Hell i was speed running re2 and i had no idea what speedruns are. I was in highschool exams period i would finish go home start and finish re2 and then go on my day. All because i was trying to unlock the final character needed bellow 60mins with max rating , meaning using no saves or healing items ! My best run was 61 mins and 12 seconds i never did it ..... If i was going to attempt it now i would plan out my route on paper to save every second not just trying to just yolo it :p i was not that wise back then :p
