Refresh for Intel boxed coolers with non-K Comet Lake processors

Refresh for Intel boxed coolers with non-K Comet Lake processors

Intel refreshes its included stock coolers. Today in specific the non-K Comet Lake processors will be shipped with an all-black and slightly sticker model. The new coolers will be delivered with the new 10th gen non-K model CPUs only.

Photos shared by chiphell show the new design, and is for non-K model processors solely, these have a tdp of 65W (even 35W for the T series).

The enw cooler looks much better really, with that black design opposed to dull grey of the 'old' stock cooler. You'll spot the traditional design aluminum cooling fins and a central copper baseplate with thermal paste pre-applied. The fan reveals seven blades, but seems to get a thicker shroud is. The Intel logo is dark as opposed to blue. A subtle observation, the 4-pin cable is now sleeved. The installation mechanism still is that old push and pull pin design.

Those look so much cleaner than the old ones.

As mentioned, the wire is all black and I also like the soft, rounded look of the entire unit. Not sure if they work the same (they look the same) but the old ones did the job fine for anything less than an i7. Even when I build an office machine with no window, I like the inside to look as nice as possible. For anyone building a light gamer that has to stare at the stock cooler, this is an upgrade. I remove/replace these junk coolers for my personal rigs, but they are fine for average use.

That is still a very pathetic looking cooler even for none k CPU's it needs to be twice as thick as it is now imo the old cooler couldn't even hold stock clocks back when i had the 3770k at stock settings.

So for the Non-K you can overclock via FSB so 48x 103.00 might be the limit. I might get the 10700 instead of the 10700k since it comes with a cooler and can oc close to 5ghz. Living room PC mobo died so this is a decent upgrade from 3570k

Do not expect anything magical from this cooler, my guess is it would be able to hold 3000-3200Mhz with good airflow and high noise, at around 90-95 C.
A Wraith Prism looks twice the size and i am sure it would be a good upgrade if it fit the socket.
Feel free to come back and prove me wrong.

These chips are not nearly as hot as I was expecting. I've been running my freshly installed i7-10700K all day today, doing everything from browsing the net to playing a few games like Ark which likes a lot of CPU, to a quick run of Cinebench R20 (scored 5100 with zero overclocking, totally stock settings), and the hottest core hit 58'c. Most were 54-56'c. When gaming the cpu doesn't even get over 50'c. I am running a custom loop that has a thin 360 and 280 rad, the old XSPC raystorm v3 block, aquacomputer pascal block, and my fans were all set to around 1k rpm.
