Hacker group Lapsus$ obtained access to Nvidia's servers for a week and took 1TB of driver and firmware files. The group is seeking for the Lite Hash Rate limitations on Nvidia GPUs to be lifted.

The hack revealed large numbers of files, including the source codes for the GPU driver and GPU firmware. LAPSUS$, a hacking organization, has vowed to "help the mining and gaming communities" by finding a way to the Lite Hash Rate (LHR) GPU hash rate limitation. According to them, the whole LHR V2 solution for everything between GA102 and GA104 is now available for purchase and delivery.

Furthermore, the hacking group is blackmailing the firm into deleting the LHR from its software or releasing information about the "hw folder," which appears to be a hardware folder holding various private schematics and hardware details. Nvidia has yet to respond to the group's claims. Nvidia or a security company hired by Nvidia would have used mobile device management to enter a Lapsus$ virtual machine. Despite the fact that the stolen data was encrypted, Lapsus$ claimed to have a backup.
