Ranked Memory Speeds up Kaveri APU Gaming

As you guys have learned from our Kaveri review, gaming is a pretty decent experience with that APU series. Clear is that the GPU inside the APU is rather dependant on the system memory, as such faster memory is better and will drive up gaming performance. It's now discovered that not only faster memory helps, but ranked memory makes the experience faster as well.

Ranked memory by the way are double sided memory sticks, this means the RAM ICs are on both sides of the APU. Dual rank it seems is some 6…7% faster than single rank clock vs. clock in 3D gaming with Kaveri APU. Basically the performance is best with two DIMMs (dual-rank) installed that are running a high memory clock frequency (say 2400 MHz).

Now basically if you go from DDR3-1866 and DDR3-2400 you will already notice a 15.2 percent jump in performance, and that certainly is significant. ComputerBase posted some numbers on this (shown below). Our 7850K APU should arrive soon as well, and I'll check that out with some ranked memory as well.
