Radeon RX Vega Benchmark Shows 3DMark 11 Performance just above GTX 1080

Radeon RX Vega Benchmark Shows 3DMark 11 Performance just above GTX 1080

In the Futuremark online results browser new entries have been spotted for the Radeon RX Vega 3DMark 11. The results show the tested product to be in the GeForce GTX 1080 range.

Radeon RX Vega 3DMark 11 however is not rather good in testing graphics cards in the year 2017, it is a very CPU bound titles these days.

What I found more interesting is that all entries are located under code 687F:C1 8GB. So that is in fact confirmed the Radeon RX Vega as it is the consumer 8GB version. Two other things jump out, the clock and memory speeds are now consistently at 1630 MHz for the GPU clock frequency, with the memory listed at 1890 MHz (HBM2).

The highest score is 31K points. A GTX 1070 scores 25K'ish points, a GTX 1080 (factory overclocked) sits at the 30K marker. Check below a listing that videocardz compiled with some results spread out:

If the price is good, I don't see a problem with these numbers.

However, AMD might be tempted to price it higher than 1080ti because of the crazy demand (for mining).

Mining crowd is making things harder for people who just want to game

Looks good, if price is reasonable this should create lots of demand. Question will drop down to:
a) supply
b) will it be a good miner card, if yes we have a problem
c) combination of above 2 may result in prices absurdly higher compared to what Nvidia has to offer, hence people will go for 1080.

other then that looks good, honestly we need competition. And this is pre-release, im curious to see if those will be stock clocks or this is under OC, and how well it will OC under water.

GPU score in 3DMark11 is not CPU bound. It's completely relevant for GPU comparison.

You can be pigheaded about it and might like what I write or not, but it is CPU bound due to this title low 720p render resolution versus powerful GPU render capabilities.

No problem there they can make gpu versions for mining only and priced same as gaming counterpart so that miners can't sell them to people who want to play but they can sell them for scrap and both sides will be happy but time will tell what it will be.

Exactly there is a problem for AMD, they can't make GPU products for Mining only, because whoever buys a GPU for Mining has to use the equipment as long as possible, i.e till next generation of GPU's come out, after that time to sell the one or more years old GPU used for Mining will be much harder.
Why AMD would make A Mining Card and sell it as a Gaming card? They make GPU's for Gaming when IMHO mining is something that lasts for some time, but will not last for long time for sure, as the time will tell.
