NVIDIA today released a new set of drivers. They created a bit of viral promising heaps of new features and some additional performance for titles like Apex Legends, Battlefield V, Forza Horizon 4, Strange Brigade, and World War Z. We took a couple of games and checked things out.

Among things, NVIDIA is promising up-to 5% extra performance for titles like Battlefield V and Strange Brigade, and you can bet that their own charts will always be in their favor.  So we took the two titles and added Codemasters F1 as a control test. If we'd see any significant perf gains and not on F1, then that means that NVIDIA definitely has found some extra performance somewhere.

We took a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and ran all popular three resolutions (Full HD, Quad HD and Ultra HD) on our Core i9 9900K system. One hour before the new driver release we tested with the games patched up and the previous WHQL driver 431.60. Half an hour ago we got our hands on the 436.02 WHQL drivers and started re-testing the games. This system is running 32 GB DDR4 memory and runs the Windows 10 May 2019 Update.

We've very recently already seen a performance uplift in Strange Brigade likely due to a new game patch. However, we have to say that although the results might seem close towards each other, if you look closely then there definitely is some extra performance to be found. The resolution that benefits best from it all seems to be 2560x1440. For Strange Brigade the results are pretty much too close to call. However, Battlefield V in Quad HD closes in on 5% extra perf, 2% in Full HD and 2.5% in Ultra HD.

Results will, of course, vary a bit per system and graphics card. But you really should look into the drivers as they seem to be pretty solid.

No GDPR Consent and forced GeForce Experience Install

The driver installer, however, is messed up once again, as NVIDIA did not impose any GDPR concent, and even worse it is forcefully installing GeForce Experience now. The option to not install is greyed out. Please be aware of this fact prior to installation okay?
