NAP Systems, Inc. today announced the release of the TS-x31 series Turbo NAS for SOHO and Home users. Powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, it provides a high-performance yet economical solution for file storage, sharing, and data backup coupled with the easy-to-use cloud-based note-taking application and a wide range of multimedia functions.

Available in 1, 2, and 4-bay models, the TS-x31 series is an easy-to-use network storage center for backup, synchronization, remote access, and home entertainment. "Due to the privacy concerns of pubic cloud services, the TS-x31 is ideal for establishing a secure and large-capacity private cloud where users can store, share, and access their files anytime, anywhere," said Jason Hsu, product manager of QNAP.

With the Notes Station, the TS-x31 series allows users to create digital notes on their private cloud and share with friends and colleagues without paying monthly fees and knowing that sensitive information is fully under their control and not stored on a third party's server. Users can edit their notes with the intuitive web-based editor, take screenshots with a Google Chrome extension or desktop Qsnap application, and create to-do lists & calendar alerts that can be synchronized to Google Calendar to efficiently manage their daily tasks. Users can also enrich their notes with media files stored on the TS-x31, and enjoy convenient access to their notes by using the Qnotes mobile app.

The TS-x31 series has a powerful & energy-efficient Freescale ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 512MB DDR3 RAM, delivering up to 110MB/s read & 80MB/s write speeds. Equipped with dual LAN ports, the TS-231 and TS-431 support dual IP settings, port-trunking modes and enables users to set up fault tolerance or link aggregation for increased data throughput.

With offline HD video transcoding, if you can only connect to a slow, limited or restricted Internet connection you can still enjoy smooth video streaming by playing a pre-rendered, device-optimized version of the video. "Users can also set the TS-x31 to handle transcoding tasks when they are at work or asleep, allowing them to watch videos immediately after getting home or waking up," added Hsu.

The TS-x31 series is perfect for serving as a home multimedia hub with a wide range of multimedia applications. With DLNA and AirPlay support, the TS-x31 series allows users to view photos, listen to music, and watch HD-quality videos stored on the TS-x31 throughout their home on compatible Smart TVs, game consoles and media players.
By using the Photo Station, Music Station, and Video Station apps, users can centralize their media collection, sync files across various devices, and easily share with family & friends. Remotely accessing & managing files stored on the TS-x31 is extremely easy with the Qphoto, Qmusic, Qfile, and Qmanager mobile apps.

The TS-x31 series features three SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports allowing users to flexibly arrange tasks with USB devices to increase productivity. Users can back up files to USB drives, access data stored on SD cards via USB card readers, and connect to a USB-based UPS to ensure a continuous power supply.

Users can also increase the functionalities of the TS-x31 series with the QTS App Center that provides various install-on-demand apps developed by QNAP and third-party developers, including backup/sync, productivity tools, content management, communications, download, entertainment and more. QNAP's development platform also allows developers to create various applications, adding even more value to the TS-x31 series and providing near-unlimited functionality for users.
