They aren't shipping the Xavier SoC unit until Q3 2017. Pretty sure that chip he held up was a wood screw placeholder.

At the end of Keynote, Audi representative pointed out that there was an Audi outside already using it for a few weeks and being able to drive alone. I don't thing a wooden PCB would do that :)

That one is likely Pascal based. These cars have been buzzing around for a bit.

The Q7 used the PX2 not Xavier:

Outfitted with a DRIVE PX 2 and running NVIDIA DriveWorks software, the Q7 uses deep neural networks -- specifically, NVIDIA PilotNet, which recognizes and understands its changing environment while driving safely. The course will be modified during the demonstration, and features a variety of road surfaces, with and without lane markings, and a simulated construction zone requiring a detour. - See more at: http://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-audi-partner-to-put-world-s-most-advanced-ai-car-on-road-by-2020#sthash.QMMZrhha.dpuf

Xavier isn't shipping until Q4 (I thought it was Q3 but I guess I remembered incorrectly) it was also announced last year so I'm not sure why so many people are bringing it up now.

Xavier samples will be available the fourth quarter of 2017 to automakers, tier 1 suppliers, startups and research institutions who are developing self-driving cars.

Well if that is the case then the Keynote formulation was highly misleading. Because Huang said: "there is an Audi with an NVIDIA AI computer", while talking about Xavier...

All this new tech inside the chip that touts, 2x efficiency, insane IPC improvements, incredible memory bandwidth..... yet in those screens its struggling to keep up with a GTX1080. We all know that Pascal is basically a supt-up version of Maxwell. Kinda like Maxwell on speed, hence why they still pretty much suck in DX12 Async Compute tasks.

This makes me mad, cause I love AMD's business philosophy of an open platform with OpenCL, Mantle (now Vulkun basically), TressFX, everything they do just seems to better the consumer but why should I have to support a company that simply can't deliver in the high end performance levels? I feel bad for not supporting them.

Don't get me wrong if they release VEGA10 and it beats my 1080 at 4K Ultra in most games but comes in at 30% less the price of a 1080 I shall 100% be on that and selling my 1080 to support them but they wont cause this is new tech, the yields will be low, and the price will be just as high as Nvidia's. And yes I totally agree with have Nvidia to thank for this.
