I hope you're wrong for the simple reason that one company dominating leads to anti consumer practices. Lack of competition has led to nvidia managing to turn the 300$ mid size chip to a 600-700$ "high end" product, and intel spends a decade selling quad cores as high end CPU's with minor improvements and no real progress being made (especially single thread performance) (and inflating prices nvidia style, tho less aggressively - relatively speaking). We need a good AMD on both GPU/CPU fronts, even if they dont manage to get the top ultimate enthusiast tier performance product out there, as long as they become relevant again and keep those 2 (interl/nvidia) honest from now on.
I think it is safe to say no matter what AMD comes up with Nvidia will have something better.

What is even more sad is by the time high-end VEGA is released the Titan X would have been out for over a year and AMD still probably will not be able to compete !
I can't see how they could ever catch-up at this point.
only 0.00001% of people has afford to buy titan X. So its a fail in that.

People said that when the Original Titan launched, GTX 780 as well.
Then 290x dropped. And lets not act like the Fury X didnt stay within reach of the 980ti and even beat Titan X at higher resolutions or non nvidia games at times before Vram limitations.
Besides these are non even finished retail samples and you are saying AMD is already dead.

Well I'm kinda puzzled now. Is that really all? They didn't even show the card? Just GPU with HBMs? For me this is even bigger disappointment than the NVIDIA Keynote.
I guess everybody understands what this means. AMD is now whole year behind NVIDIA in enthusiast segment.
Also... If those sealed PCs were running this 500mm2 GPU, with performance very similar to GTX1080, that would be really sad.
