Preliminary review: GeForce GTX 1080 2-way SLI
We look at the GeForce GTX 1080 setup in SLI mode. In this article we'll zoom in at Ultra HD gaming performance as that's where the cookie seems to crumble. Driver issues prohibit us to test all game titles, so this will be a preliminary article until Nvidia outs a proper working SLI driver. Join us in this review where we'll once again look at everything.

Thank you Hilbert for this SLI review, I've had SLI for many years and with two EVGA OC 780's I will be upgrading my 3XS system with two 1080's so this prelimiary SLI article most interesting.
I'm going to wait for the MSI Z overclocked 1080 or another brand with a similar level of overclock & better coolers and then get the cards & a 4K G Synch monitor to replace my Dell U2711 which I've had for a while now.
Finally we have a viable framewise but still expensive graphics card solution to playing the latest games on high quality settings on a 4K monitor.

Good review, thanks Hilbert. Great performance, but I'm through with having reference cards due to the noise and heat. The fact it's £100 more is just an insult, really. Can't beat my Sapphire Fury for silence, can't hear it at all, even under full load.

Great preliminary analysis Hilbert, thanks. I look forward to some comparisons with crossfire in the coming months.
I was about to put some cash down on a new 1080, but I think I will save some pennies and go for a 2nd user GTX970 and utilize SLI at my current architecture level.
Again thanks. Keep up the great work on the site.

Excellent thanks a lot
I actually managed to secure a preorder for the G1 at Amazon for $611 (plus $120 for shipping and import fees into my country, which is still a heck of a lot cheaper than it goes for locally), not sure if they made a mistake or something. Now I'm just hoping they ship it within the next week.
It may have a single 8 pin connector, but I don't do extreme overclocking and most of the cards hit a brick wall just before 2.1ghz anyway
G1 is inbound, STRIX .. no clue just yet.
