PowerColor working on new design 4890

Recently we reviewed PowerColor's PCS+ 4890, which was a little noisy. But PowerColor is now working on yet another Radeon HD 4890.

The new custom-designed Radeon HD 4890 graphics cards should free itself from the good old fashion reference design completely. This new SKU is tagged under label name AX4890-1GBD5 seems to concentrate on a more simple and value targeted design.

What seems to beĀ  weird is while they overhaul the design, they keep all specifications reference, thus an 850 MHz core clock frequency, and 975 MHz for the memory (1 GB of GDDR5). This product will likely end up as PowerColor's HD 4890 PCS+, PCS++ series, apart from the common reference design. It is expected to be positioned around the US $200 mark.
