Plextor M7e M.2 PCIe Gen 2x4 Performance caught on photo
So yesterday I was at CeBIT and plextor was demoing their upcoming Plextor M7e M.2 PCIe SSD already. Blazing fast ! the M7e M.2 is a small M.2. device that plugs into a compatible motherboard, and the numbers are amazing compared to a regular SATA3 SSD, how does 1000 MB/sec + sound ?
This next generation solid state drive is using a PCIe Gen 2.0 x4 interface in combo with a Marvell 88SS9293 controller and the Toshiba A19 MLC NAND flash.
These new generation M.2 devices will be fast alright. Talking with Plextor we confirmed that the PCB in the end will be colors black. The product will become available in 128, 256 , 512 and even one TB versions (which you see on the photo). The 1TB version however are a notch longer alright due to the space need for the NAND ICs.
Have a peek:

No idea, that was my thinking, RAM barely gets hot to the touch but this thing was near burning my hands level, i've had a look at the temps, right now its 55 C and im just browsing the web, in games it can reach something like 90 C.
Could maybe get a little stick on heat spreader for it, though it's got the paper stick on it already that I doubt helps

The controller has cpu, isn't just NAND chips but actual cpu required for controller logic inside.

Why didn't any company say anything about this? 113 degrees can't be good for any piece of hardware.

My mini pci-e one is really hot to the touch, I initially thought it was being affected by just my laptop being hot but it was hot even at startup
