Plextor M6 PRO with PlexTurbo Now Available

Plextor M6 PRO with PlexTurbo Now Available

Plextor, a leading developer of digital storage technology, launches the M6 PRO SATA SSD. First previewed at Computex 2014, the professional grade M6 PRO is the new gold standard for SATA SSDs, combining extremely fast, highly stable Plextor hardware with PlexTurbo, the unique second-generation RAM caching software. With PlexTurbo, the M6 PRO is able to go far beyond the limit of the SATA III interface and achieve up to ten times the performance of hardware alone.

Making its debut with the Plextor M6 PRO is PlexTurbo, software that uses some of the system RAM as an ultra-smart RAM cache; this bypasses the limitations of the 6 Gb/s SATA III channel and maximizes performance. Plextor refers to it as second-generation RAM caching software because the smart software overcomes the disadvantages of existing caching technology. Not only does PlexTurbo outperform competing technology, it minimizes RAM usage, uses active data comparisons to prevent unnecessary writes, and even prevents RAM cache data loss during crashes or power interruptions.

The M6 PRO is the first SSD to survive Plextor's new ultra-strict, enterprise-grade, Zero-Error standard. Taking place at the company's own state-of the-art testing facility, the tests subjected 400 units to 1008 hours (up from 500 hours) of extreme tests without error or failure. This combination of tough developmental and 100% individual unit testing gives the M6 PRO unbeatable reliability, which is matched by a full 5-year Plextor warranty and an MTBF calculated at 2.4 million hours.

Evolving from its multi-award-winning predecessor, the M6 PRO's hardware uses a new generation of A19 nm Toshiba toggle NAND flash and a multi-core Marvell controller with Plextor's in-house developed firmware. The M6 PRO has the advantage of a new ultra-low-power fast-resume DEVSLP mode that brings longer battery life to notebooks and reduces wasted power in desktop systems while retaining responsiveness. The SSD features the latest version of Plextor's acclaimed long-term performance-sustaining True Speed technology. Plextor's True Protect system, with multilayer data integrity and security provided by 256-bit AES full-drive encryption, is also included.

"To build the M6 PRO, we looked at how storage was used by gamers, creative professionals and advanced system users, then we knew that we had to implement RAM caching as well as delivering on the hardware. Because we started PlexTurbo development from scratch, we've been able to optimize it to perform to the maximum with our exact hardware combination and to address the issues that users have experienced with other RAM caching software. The M6 PRO with PlexTurbo not only raises the bar in terms of real-world performance, it also sets new standards for stability, data loss protection and memory usage," said Sales & Marketing Manager Lear Wu.

The Plextor M6 PRO SSD with PlexTurbo, will be available August 2014 in 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1TB capacity.
