PlayStation 5 launches in November, starting at $399 for PS5 Digital Edition
PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12 in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, and November 19 in the rest of the world including Europe, Middle East, South America, Asia, and South Africa, Sony announced.
It will cost $499.99 / €499,99 / £449.99 / ¥49,980 yen for the standard edition and $399.99 / €399,99 / £359.99 / ¥39,980 yen for the Digital Edition. Pre-orders will be available starting as early as September 17 at select retailers. The PlayStation 5 consoles’ availability and pricing announcement by Sony will undoubtedly excite fellow console gamers and Sony fans. Interestingly, the pricing for the PlayStation 5 (disc edition) is somewhat similar to the Xbox Series X, which is priced at US$499. That being said, the PlayStation 5 Digital edition is priced at about US$100 extra compared to the Xbox Series S (retail price of US$299). That being said, the difference in pricing is justifiable from Sony’s point of view because gamers aren’t getting a ‘slower’ version of the PS5 with the Digital Edition—unlike the Xbox Series S, which is said to be slower compared to the Series X.
Among the games released exclusively for the game console is the latest installment of the role-playing game Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy XVI . Sony also announced the arrival of Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition , Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach , the Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy and a new God of War. The following titles will be available at launch from Sony Interactive Entertainment:
- Astro’s Playroom (SIE Japan Studio) – pre-installed on PS5
- Demon’s Souls (Bluepoint Games / SIE Japan Studio) – $69.99 / €79.99 / ¥7,900
- Destruction AllStars (Lucid Games / XDEV) – $69.99 / €79.99 / ¥7,900
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (Insomniac Games) – $49.99 / €59.99 / ¥5,900
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Mile Morales Ultimate Edition (Insomniac Games) – $69.99 / €79.99 / ¥7,900
- Sackboy: A Big Adventure (Sumo Digital / XDEV) – $59.99 / €69.99 / ¥6,900
And the following accesories will be available at launch:
- DualSense Wireless Controller (standalone) – $69.99 / €69.99 / ¥6,980
- PULSE 3D wireless headset with 3D audio support and dual noise-cancelling microphones – $99.99 / €99.99 / ¥9,980
- HD Camera with dual 1080p lenses – $59.99 / €59.99 / ¥5,980
- Media Remote – $29.99 / €29.99 / ¥2,980
- DualSense Charging Station $29.99 / €29.99 / ¥2,980
The Playstation 5 will be released on November 12 in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. The rest of the world, including the Netherlands, will have to wait until November 19. Last week, Microsoft announced that the new game consoles Xbox Series X and Series S can be ordered online from September 22nd and will be delivered on November 10th. The Series S will cost around 299 euros. The Series X, which is more powerful and includes a disk tray, costs 499 euros.

£70 is a lot for game. Eek. I do feel sorry for the ones buying the digital version because of the initial saving. They really could milk digital sales here even more than they already do. We have to wait and see.

Why does FFXVI have to be a timed release?!!!!!!! I'm most likely not buying a PS5 so I don't want to wait even longer!

Well, looks like its going to be a nice purchase later this year/next year. PC with RTX 3000 series & gamepass + a PS5 for those sweet PS exclusives. No need to get Xbox Series X then.
