Philips to offer 43 inch 4K UHD IPS monitor

Philips to offer 43 inch 4K UHD IPS monitor

Are you ready to pull out your wallet and grab deep in there? Philips will release the 43-inch BDM4350UC, a huge version based on the 'smaller' BDM4065UC at 40 inch. It has somewhat the same looks, but just is bigger. The handsome fellah is an Ultra HD screen based on an IPS panel.

It actually has a 60Hz IPS-type panel with a solid static 1200:1 contrast ration. 178/178° viewing angles are specified. At 42.51 Inches and based on a 3840 x 2160 resolution that means a 103.64 PPI (Pixels Per Inch) pixel density. That actually is very comfortable as it is similar to say a 21.5” Full HD monitor pixel density wise.

The backlight is your flicker-free standard gamut WLED and the screen comes with two Display port 1.2 connectors as well as 2 HDMI 2.0 ports (with MHL). It also includes VGA, 4 USB 3.0 ports (1 with fast-charging), 3.5mm audio input and 3.5mm headphone jack. Mounted in the frame are 2 x 7W speakers and you can hang it onto a wall as well as the screen has 200 x 200mm VESA holes. A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified.

The screen will arrive in May or June with a price to be announced. Update, I just noticed a listing in the price search engibe, the monitor will sell for roughly 799 EURO for this IPS model, not bad at all with these specs.

Philips is a little late with this. The 43" UHD panel it uses I believe is the same as in the Wasabi Mango UHD430 (LG AH-IPS) which has been around for about a year.
