Philips Releases LED Light Bulb

by Thorsten Finck on: 03/10/2009 03:06 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Using just 7 watt, but providing light like a regular 40 watt light bulb, the Philips MASTER LED bulb is the first of its kind. Philips states that this LED bulb neither emits heat, UV or IR in the beam, therefore making it ideal for illuminating sensitive objects, for example. According to Philips, it lasts about 45,000 hours, which is up to 45 times longer than incandescent light bulbs and up to 25 times longer than traditional halogen. Currently, the MASTER LED can be used in E27 and GU10 lamp fittings and is already available in Europe for around 50 Euros. In July it should also be available in the USA, as well. Doing the math, in an 18 to 24-hours per day application, the MASTER LED already payed for itself after one year.
