Philips BDM3490UC Curved 34in Display

Philips will be releasing a new 34" ultra-wide curved screen (3800R), the BDM3490UC. The HDMI 2.0 ready monitor has an LG.Display IPS panel with 3440 x 1440 resolution and a 5ms G2G response time and 60Hz refresh rate.

It has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 172/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth (8-bit+FRC) and sRGB gamut. The stand offers only a basic tilt adjustment, and its central section actually houses the integrated 2x 7W stereo DTS speakers. There aren't any VESA mounting options on this model. There are 1x HDMI 2.0, 2x HDMI 1.4 (one with MHL), DisplayPort and audio connections available on the screen along with 4x USB 3.0 ports. It can also support various PiP and PbP options.

No confirmation on price or release date yet.

Good. The more 3440x1440 screens on the market, the better. Should have had adaptivesync either way tho, since it doesnt increase the price.

That's one beautiful looking display. To bad the price will make it impractical for most

Exactly. Ill just keep my 21:9 25inch for now till the prices are in the $550-$700 range for a cheap curved 3440x1440 monitor one day.
By that time Ill also have a 4930k and dual w/e amd/nvidia DX12 8GB gpus are out that are the same price segment as the GTX 670 were.

Curved screen gimmick costs more to produce, raising costs, yet offers no benefits whatsoever to viewers...pass.
