Retailer Shares Failure Rates for GPUs, Motherboards, SSDs, and Other Products.  Retailer Hardware Sugar from the Philippines, has shared an interesting set of failure rates for the most popular hardware brands over its four-year operation.

Despite the tiny sample size, it is interesting to discover which brands are most frequently returned. Aside from the relatively small sales area, keep in mind that other factors, such as user error, can have an impact on this type of data. As a result, approach it as fascinating information rather than an absolute.

Graphics cards, notably those from Gigabyte, had the most tremendous failure rate of any hardware component. RMA data from the shop revealed a 5% failure rate for Gigabyte-branded graphics cards. MSI graphics cards appeared to be more reliable, with only 1.5% of sold units failing. However, Hardware Sugar sold 9.3% more Gigabyte graphics cards than MSI graphics cards, which should be considered. Regrettably, the shop did not specify which models were most prone to breakdown. It would also have been interesting to find out whether Nvidia or AMD makes the top graphics cards. It was the opposite way around when it came to motherboards. MSI motherboards had a higher failure rate (2.4% vs. 1.8% for Gigabyte motherboards). However, we do not know if the highest rate of RMAs was necessary for Intel or AMD motherboards. Seasonic power supplies are also quite popular in the Philippines, outselling huge names like Corsair and Cooler Master. As a point of comparison, Hardware Sugar sold 42.8% more Seasonic units than Corsair. However, Corsair was the most dependable brand overall, with a failure rate of less than 1%. Seasonic and Cooler Master, for example, were at 1.8% and 2%, respectively.

Cooling systems from Corsair and DeepCool, on the other hand, did not fail. However, the most popular cooling products, NZXT, had a 4% failure rate. We do not know whether the data applies to air cooling, liquid cooling, or both. We think the latter because CPU air coolers are not very prone to failure. A fan may die early from time to time, but it is uncommon to see a heatsink fail. G.Skill was the chosen brand among DIY users and consumers in the Philippines regarding memory. G.Skill memory kits sold 235.8% more than TeamGroup memory kits, according to Hardware Sugar. Despite the huge margin, G.Skill had a failure rate of only 0.66%.

Samsung and TeamGroup were the two most popular high-speed NVMe storage brands. Although the sales figures were close, Samsung was the dependable manufacturer with no RMAs. TeamGroup units, on the other hand, had a 1.2% failure rate.
