Words has been spreading on the web that Microsoft is to overhaul the WIndows 10 interface a bit more. Back from the dead would be widgets, you probably can remember them from Windows.

Widgets are both loved and hated by many, Microsoft knows that and is firing up the marketing machine, by firing off 'AI-based functionality'. Considering any algorithm and programmed software that has a what-if statement in it is called AI these days you can expect a weather and news widget is added to the right of your desktop screen.

According to Microsoft, this feed will be fully personalized and there are 4,500 different news sources from which to consult. The widget could predict which news items a user finds interesting via 'artificial intelligence'.

The renewed taskbar is available to select Windows 10 Insiders members starting, and it is expected to roll out gradually to all users in the coming months. For the time being, testing is only possible in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and India. Users must also have the Chromium version of the Edge browser installed as clickable news links open in the browser. Microsoft further promises that there will be no ads in this overview (for now), and the function can also be turned off.
