Palit Expands towards SSDs and offers UVS and GFS series

Palit is expanding a new product lineup-SSD storage business. Palit's GF-S series SSD are SATA III units aimed at Gamers, their UVS series is more budget targeted.

Aside from the announcement, Palit did not detail anything on controller type and availability. In fact all specs listed are these:

  • Solid-state storage devices with much lower operation temperature to ensure higher reliability than traditional hard drive
  • Faster operation for system boot up and application software loading
  • Low power consumption with power saving implemented
  • LDPC ECC correction
  • Program upgradable
  • Static and dynamic wear-leveling
  • TRIM support
  • Low noise operation
  • 2.5", 7mm
There are two ranges, the UVS series with 120GB, 256GB, 480GB and 512GB sizes. The 12 and 480 GB wouold likely be TLC based with an SLC written buffer. Good to see is that palit will be using MLC nand for the GFS series, these will be released in 120GB, 128GB and 240GB versions.

We'll keep you update, one more information arrives we'll inform. Currently there is no indication on prices, performance and availability.

I guess now was a good time for them to join the SSD business with prices some 20% higher than half a year ago.
