MSI team overclocker TSAIK has successfully clocked AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU above the critical 5 GHz mark. Interesting for a PU with a locked miltiplier.

TSAIK's AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU-Z verified clock speed achievement was 5.14178 GHz. Comfortably above 5 GHz, the achievement is also a significant step up from yesterday's HWBot confirmed world record; ScatterBencher, AKA Massman's 4.74 GHz overclock. We can observe that TSAIK used a 113 MHz BCLK and a 1.20V core voltage.

BCLK overclocking can generate "RTC Bugs," and system stability can suffer if the BCLK is pushed beyond the anticipated value of 100 MHz. Given the disadvantages of BCLK overclocking, this could be why TSAIK, who has a sizable presence on HWBot, has not yet uploaded this AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D clock speed to the site and has done little more with it than run CPU-Z validator.

As a member of the MSI team, TSAIK gets access to the company's greatest components, and the motherboard responsible for the 5.14 GHz overclock was the enticing MSI MEG X570 Godlike. Although the motherboard was running the 1.G5T2 BIOS (AGESA 1.2.0.6 Patch C), MSI may have permitted some under-the-radar BIOS adjustments that increased the Ryzen 7 5800X3D's overclocking capabilities for its in-house OC expert.
