OCZ test panel update - March 2016

We are now eleven months into the test run with OCZ SSDs. Back in May 2015 Guru3D an OCZ Storage solutions started a test that will last two years, ten of our Guru3D forum members received a OCZ SSD. We are following these guys for these two years, time for another update.

All SSDs in the test group are functioning and running well, reproducing results and real-world usage flow of ten people at the same time. The Vertex 460A SATA3 480GB SSD remains fast and several members now have written many terabytes of data on the SSD. Each month each participant will post their status on the SSD in our forums alongside with an overview of SMART info, TB written, lifespan expectancy and of course performance. This is an open project meaning everything gets reported transparently each month in the forum thread with a screen-shot or two running validation and test software. The good but also the bad will be reported. User feedback based on real-world user experiences.

We are now at month eleven .. this month we I will focus on our Ancient Guru, Solfaur. He reached closes in on 11 TB of data written (host writes). The SMART readouts are 100%  life expectancy / life time remaining has dropped towards 99%. Below if you click the thumbnails you can see the SMART data of his SSD and performance scores.

Solfaur: "Late February 2016 update, and as expected - smooooooth sailing. Had The Division BETA installed on the SSD and will get the full game on it as well."

BTW we noticed that OCZ posted an interesting blog earlier on. Everybody (well almost everybody) understands the need for an SSD in a PC, but what about consoles ? Recently it was discovered that an SSD can seriously help you out in regards to stuttering performance on your game console as well. Following the launch of Fall Out 4 many users have reported issues while playing this game which was traced back to the stock HDD. In response to this OCZ has published several blogs regarding game console performance to show the added value of upgrading your system using an SSD.

For an insight in Fall Out 4 please be sure to check out this blogpost and for additional PlayStation 4 specific HDD vs SSD performance comparisons check out this blogpost. What do you think?

Below if you click on the thumbnail, these are the results from Solfaur eleven months into the group test. That's it for this months update, if you like to follow the test-panel you can do so in this forum thread.

What an honor to be on the frontpage for the second time!

The reason I used the smooth sailing phrase was the fact that I was playing the pirateish AC Rogue at the time, and you can even see Shay Cormac's blade in the screenshot. /nerd off :nerd:

Pretty sad to hear that one of the members stopped posting the results, and I'm surprised to find out about the ban as well, especially now that I know who it's about. It's not for me to judge, but there are people and there are well, other people out there. And one rarely knows which is which until it's too late. I will keep my updates coming, even beyond the 2 years mark if need be, since I'm really glad to be of help for my favorite tech site on the internet!

PS - I still haven't upgraded to Windows 10, but I will... soon™.

Right, a random OCZ SSD in an OCZ SSD series article. Is that really so hard to grasp ?
