NVIDIA's Upcoming RTX 4070 Graphics Card to Cost $599

NVIDIA's Upcoming RTX 4070 Graphics Card to Cost $599

Apparantly NVIDIA has confirmed (during a press briefing) that the retail MSRP of the upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card will be $599, making it significantly cheaper than the RTX 4070 Ti, initially priced at $899.

However, the pricing may change as NVIDIA is known for last-minute changes regarding pricing. The RTX 4070's price puts it between $170-200 cheaper than its Ti counterpart, providing room for premium custom-design RTX 4070 cards without competing with the cheapest RTX 4070 Ti. The RTX 4070, expected to launch on April 13th, uses the same AD104 silicon as the RTX 4070 Ti, with just 46 out of 60 streaming multiprocessors being enabled, equating to 5,888 CUDA cores compared to the 7,680 on the Ti. The card will also have 46 RT cores, 184 Tensor cores, 184 TMUs, and possibly 64 ROPs. The memory sub-system remains the same as the Ti, featuring 12GB of 21Gbps GDDR6X memory across a 192-bit wide memory interface, providing 504GB/s of memory bandwidth. Despite a narrower memory bus, the RTX 4070 will have higher maximum bandwidth thanks to 21Gbps modules, making it an attractive upgrade solution for users.

4070TI vs 4070

Cores: -30%
Price: -33%
TDP: -43%

I don't know, feels like they make it their crusade to punish people more, the lower they buy down the tier list. As if they'd reasonably think they can make people in the market for a 4070 "spend a bit more" to buy a 4090 in the end...

Well to be fair, price and TDP probably are tied to the model variant (AIB or FE etc.) anyway. But going with the numbers given in the OP as presumed FE numbers, comparing it to the 4080FE you'd get something along those lines:

4080 has 65% more cores (9728 / 5888)
... costs double the money (1199 / 599$)
... has 60% higher TDP (320 / 200W)

and because I wrote it totally wrong and bad to read, here 4070TI vs 4070 again

4070TI has 30% more cores (7680 / 5888)
... costs 33% more (799 / 599$)
... has 43% higher TDP (285 / 200W)

And looking at those numbers, do we now know why they killed mGPU usage? Why SLI and CFX are dead? When you would be better off buying 2x 4070 in SLI than a 4080 for double the money, even with less than 100% utilization? So they can make you buy the higher tier card that's actually worse in every aspect except absolute performance numbers (like fps / $ and such)?
