Nvidia settles GeForce GTX 970 memory scandal in the USA

Nvidia gives American owners of GTX 970 may receive $ 30 back. That is the outcome of a settlement that the company has made in a class action case from disgruntled buyers after the scandal about the 3.5 / 4.0 amount of memory.

The parties settled at an amount of $ 30, according to Top Class Action who was behind the law-suit. The nukber is based on an average selling price of $ 350. It is an interim arrangement, the details of have not been disclosed. Nvidia promises to offer the amount to any American buyer who purchased the 970 and makes the claim. Nvidia also pays the legal fees for the lawsuit.

End-uers were dissatisfied that the GTX 970 did not use the amount of memory that Nvidia advertised and sold the product for. The company claimed in its introduction to a GTX 970 with 4GB GDDR5, but later had to admit that the memory was divided into a portion of 3,5GB and a slower partition of 512MB. These cards also had 56 instead of 64 rops, while the company initially advertised 56 initially. In addition, the amount of L2 cache used is 1792KB instead of 2048KB. Nvidia has always denied that there was any intent and dismissed this as communication error.

If you have a solution thad be great. I genuinely would appreciate it.

Nvidia tech support couldnt figure it out either, and when i provided them with the monitor report they asked for, they tried to convince me that my monitor doesnt even support 1080p: Samsung SyncMaster B2230. *Me to tech support* Punk, ive had this screen for over 6 years. I know what it does.

As of right now, im getting less performance in games like alien isolation and far cry 2 and various other games as i can only use refresh rates of 60Hz. With my 580, i could go up to 75-77Hz. The diffrence between 60 and 75 fps is such a different feeling.

I wonder if its the cable or the inputs at the gpu that im using which could be wrong.

Have you performed a fresh installation of windows since moving to the new card?

And your not bias at all

Hey titsMcGee i read your issue in the Nvidia thread you have it could be a driver issue + monitor for you with anything past Fermi. My old syncmaster could only do 65 Hz on my 670's but i was doing 75Hz with my 6950's (though i couldn't run games that high).

Seems it was a monitor issue after all. See below :D

Have you performed a fresh installation of windows since moving to the new card?

Nah i havent, does really help all that much performance wise?

*snort* Bahahaha! wt.. this just fixed my issue!

Thank you soooo much! Thanks man! :D

Ill post this in the other thread i made to close it off as solved. I wonder what happened between having the 580/s and installing this card

OT.
I cant believe how well it runs GTAV. Maxed at 1440p@60fps (99%) of the time with fxaa on and only long shadow stuff set to off with Extended Distance Detail at 80%ish. Setting the game to 1880x1052 with 2xaa+Txaa and 75Hz is another experience entirely just by the additional 15fps.

I forgot how good this game looks. I installed last night just to see how well it would run and was then going to head off to bed. Next thing i know its 4am and id just spent damn 7 or so hours just driving around looking at the insane level of detail.

How is it that this game does the FP view better than pretty much all FPS?
