NVIDIA Releases Firmware Update Tool To Support DisplayPort 1.3 and 1.4 Displays

NVIDIA Releases Firmware Update Tool To Support DisplayPort 1.3 and 1.4 Displays

Nvidia is now allowing you to update GPUs with a firmware to enable HDR color accuracy. That might come in pretty handy for people who are on the lookout for the upcoming ACER/ASUS HDR Gsync 144hz monitors.

The firmware allows 10 and 12 bit per channel signal output when an HDR “signal” is detected. The DisplayPort 1.3 and 1.4 specifications provide enhanced display capabilities.  To ensure compatibility with these specifications, an update to the NVIDIA graphics firmware may be required. Without the update, systems that are connected to a DisplayPort 1.3 / 1.4 monitor could experience blank screens on boot until the operating system loads, or could experience a hang on boot.

Applicable Graphics Cards

NVIDIA TITAN Series:

  • TITAN X (Maxwell), TITAN X (Pascal), TITAN XP

GeForce 10 Series:

  • GeForce GT 1030, GeForce GTX 1050, GTX 1050Ti, GTX 1060, GTX 1070, GTX 1070Ti, GTX 1080, GTX 1080Ti

GeForce 900 Series:

  • GeForce GTX 950, GTX 950Ti, GTX 960, GTX 970, GTX 980, GTX 980Ti

GeForce 700 Series:

  • GeForce GTX 745, GTX 750, GTX 750Ti

Quadro Series:

  • Quadro GP100, Quadro P6000, Quadro P5000, Quadro P4000, Quadro P2000, Quadro P1000, Quadro P620, Quadro P600, Quadro P400, Quadro M6000 24GB, Quadro M6000, Quadro M5000, Quadro M4000, Quadro M2000, Quadro K2200, Quadro K1200, Quadro K620, NVS 810

NVIDIA has created a downloadable tool which will detect whether the firmware update is needed, and if needed, give the user the option to update it. This update only applies to the graphics cards listed above. For desktop systems, please follow the link below to download the NVIDIA Graphics Firmware Update Tool.

It's most likely not the latest GOP version.

There have been multiple GOP updates since release, probably around 10 of them.

As long as you have the minimum version(not sure when it was added, just say version 4 for example) then it will say it's not required to update.

Download this https://www.win-raid.com/file.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Ffiles.homepagemodules.de%2Fb602300%2Ff16t892p45571n2_KQZpkECT.rar&r=&content=RE%3A_AMD_and_Nvidia_GOP_update

Dump your bios with NVFLASH( command is " nvflash --save x.rom"

Then drag your bios to the GOPUpd.bat file.

It will list info about your GPU bios and list GOP version.
Check the version; latest is version 3000A for pascal.
Thanks for this tool, really nice. Dumped the Vbios with GPU-Z and apparently the tool was correct, it's the last one.

Good to know, since the card is working just fine, so updating its BIOS was not really high on my list.
