Nvidia plans new PhysX-themed graphics card

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 10/22/2009 09:39 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

We already spotted this in our forums yesterday but it looks like Nvidia is apparently prepping some kind of new graphics card product for a launch this fall.

This week Nvidia sent out invites for people to come to their Santa Clara, California offices on October 30 for a Halloween-themed launch event that will introduce "a rocking new graphics card designed by NVIDIA and EVGA to take PhysX to the next level."

According to a rumor the card makes use of two GPUs - a GT200b and a G92b, and is a combination between a GeForce GTX 275 (graphics) and a GeForce GTS 250 (PhysX).

That's all we know at this point but if you happen to be in the area on that date there may still be time to send in your RSVP. You can obviously also save yourself the fuel for the trip and pop in a cheapo 9600 GT -- works PhysX like a charm as well if you wanted to go for dedicated PhysX. Well that or just get a more high-end card and let one GPU do both rendering and PhysX, works even better and saves on power consumption.
