NVIDIA issues firmware update for GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3060 fixing DisplayID issues
NVIDIA has released a firmware upgrade for two of its graphics cards, which fixes an issue that affected monitors connected via DisplayPort.
Many customers are likely unaware that two of the GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards are suffering issues with the monitor's DisplayID, resulting in blank screens during the boot process on both of them. According to NVIDIA, they are aware of the problem and have already developed a solution. The problem is that it will necessitate a firmware upgrade. In practice, this means that users who are encountering such issues are encouraged to experiment with interim remedies in order to confirm that what they are experiencing is indeed the problem reported. Assuming that is the case, NVIDIA provides a firmware update tool that should be able to automatically update vBIOS and resolve this issue. It is a utility that is similar to the one that NVIDIA released for ResizableBAR compatibility.
NVIDIA does not mention any other modifications that will be implemented as a result of the firmware update.
The DisplayID specification provides enhanced display capabilities. To ensure compatibility with monitors using DisplayID, an update to the NVIDIA GPU firmware may be required.
Without the update, systems that are connected to a DisplayPort monitor using DisplayID could experience blank screens on boot until the OS loads. This update should only be applied if blank screens are occurring on boot.

The NVIDIA GPU Firmware Update Tool will detect whether the firmware update is needed, and if needed, will give the user the option to update it.
If you are currently experiencing a blank screen, please try one of the following workarounds in order to run the tool:
Boot using DVI or HDMI
Boot using a different monitor
Change boot mode from UEFI to Legacy
Boot using an alternate graphics source (secondary or integrated graphics card)
Once you have the tool downloaded, please run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions. Ensure all apps are closed before running the tool and make sure no OS updates are pending in the background.Applicable Products

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, GeForce RTX 3060
