Nvidia introduces official DLSS plugin for Unreal Engine
Nvidia has introduced an official DLSS plugin for Unreal Engine 4. This makes it easier for developers to implement DLSS 2.0 in their UE4 games
The plug-in emerged in the Unreal Engine Marketplace last week and can also be download from Nvidia's Developper website , including installation instructions and a quick start guide . Users of Unreal Engine 4.26 or higher can implement the feature directly in their projects with this plug-in, without the need for separate applications or separate Unreal Engine branches . In theory, every upcoming UE4 game can support the rendering technique. DLSS is an abbreviation for “Deep Learning Super Sampling”.
NVIDIA -- Powered by dedicated AI processors on RTX GPUs called Tensor Cores, the latest update to DLSS introduces a new ultra performance mode that accelerates performance to support 8K gaming. This DLSS update provides the following key benefits:
New ultra performance mode for 8K gaming. Deliver 8K gaming on GeForce RTX 3090 with DLSS.
Improved VR support. Maintaining the 2880×1600 resolution of top-end VR head mounted displays while delivering the recommended 90 FPS has been made easier with DLSS. Dynamic resolution support. The input buffer can change dimensions from frame to frame while the output size remains fixed. If the rendering engine supports dynamic resolution, DLSS can be used to perform the required upscale to the display resolution.
Updates to NVIDIA RTX UE 4.25 and 4.26.1
The new NVIDIA UE 4.25 and 4.26.1 Branches offer all of the benefits of mainline UE4.25 and UE4.26.1, while providing some additional features:
- Fixes for instanced static mesh culling (including foliage)
- Option to mark ray tracing data as high-priority to the memory manager to avoid poor placement of data in memory overflow conditions
- Introduced threshold for recomputing ray tracing representation for landscape tiles
- Compatibility fixes for building certain targets
- Inexact occlusion test support for shadows and ambient occlusion
Download the latest branch here to benefit from all of NVIDIA’s cutting-edge features.
Pushing PC Gaming to New Levels
With our work with ray tracing, DLSS and Reflex, NVIDIA is revolutionizing what is possible from a GPU.
- Ray tracing and DLSS are supported in the biggest PC game launch ever – Cyberpunk 2077.
- Ray tracing and DLSS is supported in the most popular game – Minecraft.
- Reflex has been adopted by 7 of the Top 10 competitive shooters – Call of Duty: Warzone, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Valorant, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch and Rainbow Six: Siege
Now all Unreal Engine developers can easily use these same technologies in your games, thanks to UE4 integration.

Though the DLSS implementation is buggy right now and doesn't play nicely with all material editor nodes.

Game engine supporting it it does not necessarily meaning every game developer will implement it in their games. Dlss is a feature to be used with raytracing without it it makes no sense.
