Nvidia has released a new video for its Hairworks middleware that enables developers to simulate and render fur/hair to provide a truly interactive game experience. FYI, the video features some animals from CD Projekt RED's highly anticipated RPG, The Witcher 3.

Its optional, why not allow people with better hardware to get the best out of their game?

Seems very strange for a PC gamer to hate on haveing more options for improving the visual quality of a game and its scaling over time.

is it optional?

as far as i'm aware amd users can indeed play games like batman and metro with pysx disabled yes.
i imagine the physx effects in W3 will be toggleable, wouldn't think the Devs would want to lock out amd users completely.

PhysX is different than GW. GW is supposed to to offer pre-optimised code for several different effects under DX11, PhysX is a separate physics engine.
