NVIDIA GP100 Pascal Silicon Reportedly Spotted

Yesterday some shipping info popped up on the web, indicating that nvidia is moving around what seems to be Pascal., Pascal is the next-generation Nvidia flagship graphics processor tagged under codename GP100.

It seems that a batch of completed chips have been sent from TSMC towards NVIDIA for testing and evaluation.

It is rumored that the flagship GPU will get 17 billion transistors made on the 16 nm FinFET+ node at TSMC. The GPU will get HBM2 memory with allowance up-to 32 GB of memory (very unlikely, more like 8 or 16 GB).

Anyway, aside from the tracking info below, take this news from 3dcenter with a huge grain of salt please.

32GB memory would probably be for the Quadro/Telsa versions of the GPU. No way on earth is there any need for that amount of memory in a gaming system at this current time. Maybe in the next 10-15 years.

I think they are simply saying HBM2 can do up to 32Gb of memory....

I wouldn't be so sure...just look at what we had graphics card memory wise 10 years ago

GeForce 6800 Ultra 512Mb - 2005

or 15...

GeForce2 Ultra 64Mb - 2000

I'd say graphics cards will likely have 32gb on them in the next 4 years. 6 max.

Make sure that lousy game developers are gladly to dump all graphic data in that memory !! new era of console ports .

Exiting times will come with the arrival of Big Boss GPU :) I am specially saving for this, if it is all it was hyped to be then it may just blow 100% more performance than its predecessors. Go NVIDIA!
