NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition packaging leaks

A popular YouTube channel recently revealed exclusive images of the RTX 4070's packaging. Although no card was included, this does indicate that NVIDIA is considering introducing their design in conjunction with board partners.

NVIDIA does not currently provide a more powerful RTX 4070 TI model of their own design, the image above is said to validate the company's earlier ambitions for the RTX 4070 Founders Edition GPU. The absence of a card in the depicted box suggests that either the card was not yet available or that a design for a potential card's packaging was being finalized at the time of the depiction.

According to the information printed on the packaging, a 2x8pin to 1x16pin power adaptor is needed to power the card, and its width is 112mm. The Founders Edition GPUs are significantly narrower than the RTX 4080 at just 70mm. Assuming rumors are to be believed, the RTX 4070 utilizes a GPU with 5888 CUDA Cores manufactured by AMD and labelled AD104-250 or AD104-251. This model will have the same specifications as the RTX 4070 Ti, including 12 GB of GDDR6X memory and a 192-bit memory bus. NVIDIA was able to reduce the power need to between 200 and 250W by reducing the number of cores used.

According to the most up-to-date reports, mass production of the AD104-250 GPU will begin in the latter part of February.

the size seems reasonable, but i'm sure we can't say the same about the price.

The release schedule of the 4000 series is extremely stretched. AMD's 7000 series seems no better in that respect. AMD didn't even reveal any new cards at CES. People have been talking about huge stockpiles of unsold old gen cards being the reason for that, but those stockpiles, for sure, don't exist anywhere in Finland. So, folks in other countries can enjoy discount old cards, if they want to, but over here the very few old cards are being sold for the same old (high) prices and new mainstream (if you can call them that with such prices) cards are far in the future. How absolutely unexciting.

So the Ti has 7680 cores and 60 SM unites, while the 4070 is going to have only 5888 cores and46 SM units, isn`t this an huge gap between the two???

Or is Nvidia planning on squeezing another SKU between them?...
