You've probably downloaded the new Game Ready drivers 497.09 WHQL today, but an unusual suspect has been added su[pport wise, a 12GB GeForce RTX 2060.

Following numerous reports, Nvidia verified the existence of the new GeForce RTX 2060 12GB graphics card, but in an unexpected manner: by including it in its updated drivers before the card's official release. The company's new Game Ready 479.09 WHQL drivers not only include support for Chorus, Halo: Infinite, and the highly anticipated Icarus, which will include support for RTXGI (Ray-Tracing Global Illumination) and DLSS, but they also include the phrase "Added support for GeForce RTX 2060 12GB," which confirms the launch of the new graphics card, which was expected to happen on December 7th, as previously reported.

Speculations indicate that RTX 2060 12GB will not only double the amount of VRAM compared to the ordinary RTX 2060, but it will also raise the number of shader cores to 2176, which is the same number of Cores found in the RTX 2060 Super. The RTX 2060 12GB will retain the same 192-bit bus as the previous model, providing significantly lower bandwidth than the RTX 2060 Super, which has a 256-bit bus. However, it will have significantly more VRAM, having 12GB compared to the previous model's 8GB. This is the final distinction, with the TDP increasing to 184W from 175W on the 2060 Super and 160W on the normal 2060, enabling higher boost frequencies to be achieved. There are currently no performance details available for this new card, and with such a strong combination of specifications and a higher TDP, it's truly anyone's guess how well it will perform. It is anticipated that the performance of the RTX 2060 Super will be comparable, although we will not know for certain until December 7.
