Check it out, the first photo pf the GM206 GPU. This puppy will be embedded into the GeForce GTX 960, the GPU seems to have at least a third of the die-size compared to the current high-end GM204 being used in the GTX 970 and 980.

Nvidia's Geforce GTX 960 is expected to launch at the 22nd of this month. There are no clear numbers on the shader count, though we do know it'll get a 128-bit wide memory bus and it armed with 2GB 6 Gbps memory in the first launch wave of the products. 4Gb product are expected in a later phase.

However with a die size half/third less of the GM204, expect roughly half the number of shader processors as well. So that would be in the 1024 to 1280 SP range.
