NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Specifications Surface
Today the GeForce GTX 1080 launched, but due to pricing most of you will probably wait for the GeForce GTX 1070. Specification info for that card have been tight as Nvidia has not uncovered final specs, until today it seems.
The GeForce GTX 1070 has the same GP104 GPU housed on it's PCB as the 1080, however it'll be cut-down GPU with stripped away segments, it has 1920 shader processors. This means it is has 15 out of the 20 SMs active (15 streaming multi-processors x 128 shader cores). The card will start at 379 USD with the founders edition (reference card) costing 449 USD. Below an overview of the specifications.
GeForce GTX 1070
- 16 nm GP104 silicon "GP104-200-A1" GPU
- 1920 CUDA cores
- 15 out of 20 streaming multiprocessors enabled
- 120 TMUs
- 64 ROPs
- 256-bit GDDR5 memory, 8 GB standard memory amount
- Maximum GPU Boost frequency ~1600 MHz
- 6.5 TFLOP/s single-precision floating point performance
- 150W TDP, single 8-pin PCIe power connector
- 3x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.0b
- 2-way SLI with SLI HB bridge support
Another huge difference with the 1080 is not the reduced GPU, this model will have your 'normal' GDDR5 memory and not GDDR5X. Despite all that, we expect this card to be a true hit.

Well at least Nvidia is not going down the same trail as they did with the 970 3.5gb+.5gb since the 1070 is very different than the 1080 since the 1080 has a new Vram architecture\technology with GDDR5x. I am going to have to see the benchmarks before making a purchase.

Not directly related, but how long till we start seeing non reference SLI HB Bridges?
The color scheme is terrible on them unless you have a reference card. Would love to see a all black etc design. Color means everything, at least to me.

Nothing a lil paint won't cure.My personal tools are a x-acto blade, high performance vinyl and a heat gun because I can't stand drying time.
I think 3rd parties would custom create their own though like the MSI one with the fan, well, minus the fan hopefully.

Wow. No 5k support with old sli bridges. Times are really changing. I'm glad I ditched my 3way sli early. I knew some weird changes were happening but I didn't see this coming.

So the 1070 is basically a 980 with 8gigs of vram.
Same ROPs, same TMUs -8 same sort of clocks around 1600mhz, same bus, same Cudas @2k-ish Same SMMs even.
Just has a slight lead in Wattage used but not by much.
Just guessing it will be half the price though.
