NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Boost Clock is 1683 MHz

Though I actually already added these numbers into our 1080 review yesterday, apparently today it is news. Nvidia posted specs and these now include clock frequencies as well. The 8GB GDDR5 memory will run at an effective clock frequency of 8000 MHz.

The GeForce GTX 1070 has the same GP104 GPU housed on it's PCB as the 1080, however it'll be cut-down GPU with stripped away segments, it has 1920 shader processors. This means it is has 15 out of the 20 SMs active (15 streaming multi-processors x 128 shader cores). The memory is clocked at 2000 MHz actual which is 8 GHz (GDDR5-effective) at a memory bandwidth of 256 GB/s. Single-precision floating point performance at 6.45 TFLOP/s. The card will start at 379 USD with the founders edition (reference card) costing 449 USD. Below an overview of the specifications:

A substantial difference with the 1080 is not the reduced GPU, this model will have your 'normal' GDDR5 memory and not GDDR5X. Despite all that it's effective data rate is 8 Gbps, we expect this card to be a true hit.

I believe the 1070 will be a very impressive card for the asking price and will sell very well like the 970 did.(unless it's a 4gb+4gb slow ram)Just joking!!
Nvidia did state that the 1070 will outperform a reference Titan X and with overclocked board partner designs the performance should be very impressive.
The 8gb ddr5 on the 256 bit bus wont really be a problem unless you are going to be gaming at very high resolutions..

Now waiting anxiously for Hilbert's great reviews as always...

EDIT: Just wanted to say that i was really hoping this time around that AMD
would finally pull out an ace of hearts but no Nvidia are not giving them any breathing space,
plus their silence on Pascal until the last moment must have hurt AMD once again.

Oc'ed to the max will go head to head with stock 1006mhz 980ti, maaybe.. thats about it.

Yeah, barely. 27% over 16 games is barely now. That's more ridiculous then the 18% improvement is "hand in hand" comment from yesterday.

Uf 10 - 15 fps rare case up to 20fps is a lot?

Btw check kitguru review how it compares to small OC 1320mhz boost 980ti.

In metro LL redux, GTA5, Hitman 2016 all up to 5-6fps, otherwise ~ 12-15fps (looking mostly at 1080p, or 1440p if there is no 1080p),

dont get me wrong for a older user it is something, I mean Im getting 1080gtx perf. now (1420mhz default factory OC) and going from 780gtx was a lot, if I still had my old 780GTX it would be a bit tough now.. 1080gtx looks interesting, but to expensive for what it is, if its 789€ then its a big ripoff, even 980ti wasnt that high new ~730 - 750€, still a lot!

Anyway you see how 1080gtx compares to small OC 980ti, now if a 1070gtx should be in that territory and to take so little to get close to 1080gtx, nah not buying it, Im sure nv wouldn't allow it either...
Imo that tflop is just marketing at this point 6 - 9, could be 12 and it would still mean nothing if there is little improvement in real scenario.

Full Pascal, now that is something else.. Im sure that will be up to 2x 980gtx @ max oc or near 2x980ti stock.. At least in 4K.
A worthy upgrade for anyone, be it 980ti or older 900 and 700 series.. But the pricing hmm - 800 or 900$ founders edition lol :grin:

So what you're saying is the 1070 clocks will only be locked at reference speeds and only 9 series cards can be OC'ed? :rolleyes:

i already had this conversation with you, maybe it was someone else, you all sound the same, because you all talk without spending so much as 2 minutes thinking about it .

That makes perfect sense, particularly since the $380 1070 will beat its performance for a lot less money, and run cooler, and offer a couple neat new features.

... Wait, that doesn't make sense at all!

We know it's 1920 SPs, we know it has 8GB G5, on a 256bit bus. 120 TMUs, 64 ROPs.

For the sake of this conversation let's assume it's running at 2.2ghz

980ti @ 1500mhz 8ghz memory

2GB less memory, 50% higher b/w

Sure there are architectural improvements, among which improved memory compression, improved CR, etc etc, but i don't think buying a 980Ti at that price is a bad deal at all
