Nvidia GeForce 531.18 driver bug causes higher CPU usage; company acknowledges issue

Nvidia GeForce 531.18 driver bug causes higher CPU usage; company acknowledges issue

Nvidia has confirmed a bug in its recently released Game Ready driver version 531.18 that causes higher CPU usage. The issue has been added to the company's list of known issues, but there is no indication of when a solution will be released.

The bug can cause the Nvidia container to consume more than ten percent of the CPU after logging in or exiting games. When exiting it seems that telemetry hangs. Users can install an old driver as a temporary solution, it remains to be seen when Nvidia releases a hotfix for the problem.

if you're noticing high CPU usage from Nvidia's latest drivers (531.18) you're not alone. Seems to be a bug with the latest drivers where Nvidia container uses 10%+ CPU after logon or after closing games. Rolling back to previous drivers will fix

unfortunately , bug happens also without GFE :(

Cannot confirm the issue on a system that has never had gfe installed.

and the systems i looked at that did were pretty obvious in what their stack behavior was showing.

but since I deleted the faulty dll (we discussed the solution on the thread of 531.18 ) , no problem with 531.18

i'll keep trying to provoke it without gfe then, this sort of thing tickles my neurosis.

Happening to me too and I don't have GFE installed, noticed nvidia container using upwards of 15 to 20% CPU usage, rolling back for now.

Its not a big deal if you delete the dll.

Really? I don't want to roll back. Just delete the nvidia container *.dll? No issues?

Do the "Clean" version of these drivers in the Forum remove this issue? I know they remove telemetry, right?

No, they just help you not install crap you don't want/need.
