NVIDIA's DLSS Frame Generation Plugins to be Publicly Available for Developers at GDC; Latest Enhancements Include DLSS 3 Coming Soon to Unreal Engine 5.2

NVIDIA has announced the public release of DLSS Frame Generation plugins for developers to integrate into their games and applications. This move will enable even more developers to adopt the framerate-boosting technology that DLSS technology offers. Developers can access DLSS Frame Generation via NVIDIA Streamline, an open-source, cross-vendor framework that makes integrating super-resolution technologies into 3D games and apps more straightforward.

DLSS technology has always been improving through ongoing training on NVIDIA's AI supercomputer. The public release will incorporate the latest DLSS enhancements made earlier this year. These enhancements include better utilization of game engine data by DLSS Frame Generation, which improves UI stability and image quality during fast movement. DLSS Super Resolution also improves Ultra Performance mode, with finer detail stability and overall better image quality. Furthermore, DLAA enhances image quality, reduces ghosting, and improves edge smoothness in high-contrast scenarios.

Unreal Engine is an open and advanced real-time 3D creation tool that allows game developers and creators to deliver cutting-edge real-time 3D content, interactive experiences, and immersive virtual worlds with freedom and control. NVIDIA released a free DLSS 2 plugin for Unreal Engine in February 2021, which made it easy for any developer to accelerate their game or app's performance, further accelerating DLSS adoption. DLSS 3 will be released as an Unreal Engine Marketplace plugin for Unreal Engine 5.2 in the near future, allowing all Unreal Engine developers and creators to take full advantage of DLSS 3's AI-powered performance multiplier.

Nick Penwarden, Vice President of Engineering at Epic Games, said, "NVIDIA DLSS 3 introduces truly impressive frame generation technology, and the Unreal Engine 5.2 plugin will offer developers a great choice for increased quality and performance of their games."

Forza Horizon 5 Update to Introduce NVIDIA DLSS 3 and NVIDIA Reflex Support on PCs, Allowing for Enhanced Performance at 4K Resolution

Forza Horizon 5, developed by Playground Games, has gained popularity as one of the top-rated open-world racing games of all time, offering players the ability to race through a highly-detailed and authentic setting in Mexico, using a range of vehicles, from everyday cars to high-performance hypercars.

In an upcoming update on March 28th, PCs worldwide will receive a new enhancement to the game in the form of NVIDIA DLSS 3 and NVIDIA Reflex support. This update will enable GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs to reach beyond the 120 FPS limit at 4K resolution, by leveraging the power of DLSS 3. NVIDIA Reflex support will offer even lower input latency, leading to more responsive and smoother gameplay.

These features are expected to significantly enhance the gameplay experience for Forza Horizon 5 fans and racing enthusiasts alike. The update will make it easier for players to experience the thrill of high-speed racing and exploration in the game's beautifully crafted world.
