NVIDIA Could Release RTX 3080 20GB en RTX 3070 16GB in December

NVIDIA Could Release RTX 3080 20GB en RTX 3070 16GB in December

And that would be as a response towards AMD with their new NAVI graphics cards. We've mentioned several times already that a GeForce RTX 3080 will become available as a 20GB version as well. The RTX 3070 on its end would see a 16GB model.

The question remains if the GPU configuration for both remains the same, as that is a big question marker. There are some Shading options left on the GPU of course. Word right now is that NVIDIA would it out the release of the new Radeon cards that are announced later this month. If the cards are seriously fast, then it's an easy job for NVIDIA to reconfigure the RTX 3080 20GB en RTX 3070 16GB a little to match and outperform.

Sources also state that a planned 3070 Ti would probably have been scrapped due to poor yields from the GA104 chip. A possible RTX 3060 Ti would also have been postponed until mid-November. There is no official announcement from Nvidia itself yet, so it is best to take the news as rumor.

I am sure these cards *will* come out especially if the rumours of AMD's RDNA2 6000 series cards shipping with 12 and 16 GB of VRAM are true.

Since you have more chance of finding rocking horse poo than an RTX 3080 card at the moment, I have decided to hold off buying the 10 GB RTX 3080 card and will instead just get one as part of a completely new PC build with an AMD Ryzen 5000 CPU, 32 GB of RAM and a 20 GB RTX 3080 early next year. Getting a PS5 next month anyway along with 6 games so that is likely to pull me away from PC gaming for a couple of months anyway as do any new console launches.

These may be costly, not only due to the extra vram, but due to added manufacturing costs since these are still 1gb modules. So they will have to be tacked on to the back of the PCB like the 3090. I thought they would wait until 2gb modules arrive some time next year and offer them as part of a refresh.
