NVIDIA: Ampere RTX 30 Stock Issues Is not only based on GPU shortages

NVIDIA: Ampere RTX 30 Stock Issues Is not only based on GPU shortages

Nvidia's CFO Colette Kress was present at a technology conference hosted by Swiss financial services company Credit Suisse; she spoke about the ongoing stock shortages. Nvidia understands that the RTX 3000 cards are inadequately available and shared a few words on it.

NVIDIA partly blames what we already expected, wafer shortages at chip vendor Samsung; Kress answers that there are also inadequate substrates and other components available. It would consequently not be enough to reserve further production capacity with Samsung in the short term. Somewhat weird as these orders are made long in advance.

Kress reiterates that it will likely be several months before the amount of stock is sufficient to meet demand. While Nvidia does not want to make any concrete promises, it is observing improvements daily. Extra information would be released before the end of the year.

I bet she didn't mention shipping myriad cards directly to miners. But then again, if miners as well can't get as many cards as they'd like, it's still a shortage of supply. All the same in Nvidia's eyes.

For the ASUS 3080 Strix OC I moved in my queue by one each week, thank you cancellations.

The lack of stock is dire but the lack of communication is worse. I work in a hotel company so I would know how Covid is causing hard times, but we also communicate to our guests and our suppliers.

The lack of communication hints at a lack of professionalism in the industry we enjoy as a hobby and needs a bit of growing up.

when it came to light that they would be using Samsung for this GPU generation there were a few in the industry who questioned the move and now we see why.

Something is clearly moving....
As I wrote in another topic I made a pre order for RTX 3080 - first time of delivery was 3 weeks and today I received a call from the store that they will deliver my card 12 days earlier.
