Nixxes outs Shadow of the Tomb Raider PC patch #5 - Still no RTX support

Nixxes has released the fifth PC update for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. According to the release notes, this patch improves button visuals when using Steam Input and enemy AI perception. The patch still does not bring GeForce RTX / DLSS features to the game.

As always, Steam will download this patch the next time you launch its client and you can find its complete changelog below. Shadow of the Tomb Raider PC Patch #5 Release Notes:

  • Improved button visuals when using Steam Input
  • Fixed an issue where reloading just as you opened a locked strongbox would not make it count towards 100% completion.
  • Fixed a progression blocker in a Peruvian Jungle crypt, causing a stone pillar to disappear.
  • Fixed a progression blocker in Trial of the Eagle.
  • Fixed a progression blocker in the Mission of San Juan library.
  • Fixed a progression blocker in Lara’s dream.
  • Fixed an issue where Unuratu would become invisible during the prison escape.
  • Fixed an issue where jaguars would freeze in place.
  • Improvements to enemy AI perception.”

A 7nm, 775mm2 GPU could probably do 60fps 4K RTX but it would also probably cost a billion dollars.

I think we'll go back to the ~350mm2 GPU's with 7nm at the start and ~500-550mm2 for Ti a year or so after like the good ole days. Maybe after like a gen or two of that when 7nm pricing comes down you'll see massive dies again.

I.... somehow doubt that still :D
It will run DXR better, no doubt, but we're still far from 60fps at 4K it should offer... or 60fps RTX DLSS running on a 4K display, that is. Doesn't change anything about pricing, sadly, since I'd bet money on the "2180Ti" still being way above 1000$ MSRP.
I don't really care for 4k at this point.

Was thinking something like 1620p with minimum 60fps+, minimum.. now it's what 1080p and barely 60fps+, I wonder how much will they tone it down at this point. Ubisoft gfx crippling looking at you xD

You initially did not mark it as failure at all. Nice change in tone.
But MS itself made statement clear enough when they stopped deployment.
i still don't think it to be a failure. Funny that they stopped deployment and yet i got it a few weeks after the news post went up.

Not my problem that you do not recognize failure. Funny question: "How many of your successes were considered as failures by others?" (Maybe something to think about. Lack of criticality.)

And you are repeating same sentence over and over again. Do you think it will change outcome? Bring some measurement by which you consider it success.
Or do you consider it that way without reason?

i am repeating it over and over again because you have not brought anything to the table to refute it. Microsoft didn't even pull the update they paused it and then when it turned out the file deletion cases were very small they resumed it.
There is no reason to be afraid of 1809 and i have used it to see DX-R so to stay on topic the status of 1809 has nothing to do with the lack of support from developers. And besides bfv coming out in just 4 days will have it. at least no one has said otherwise.
