Next gen Nexus 7 specs revealed by Asus support
A big WHOOPS moment for ASUS. Apparently, someone asked an Asus support rep information about the upcoming sequel to Nexus 7, and the rep was kind enough to share most of the information about the device. According to the rep, next generation Nexus 7 will be featuring a 7 inch 1080p display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600/S4 Pro APQ8064 processor.
The slate will also pack 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.2 megapixel front camera, Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi and even LTE. The tablet will be powered by a 4,000mAh battery and will run on Android 4.3. What’s interesting is that the sales rep mentioned both Snapdragon 600 and Snapdragon S4 Pro in the spec list. We might see regional variants of next gen Nexus 7 sporting different processors, similar to what Samsung does on its Galaxy S4 smartphone.
As for the release of the tablet, the sales rep told that it should be before the end of Q2 (which ends in June), which according to him would be sometime in the second half of July.
Now it isn’t usual for sales rep to divulge such information so easily. It could have been company’s plan all along to create some hype around the product, or someone coon soon find himself in search for a new job.
