New NVIDIA GeForce driver 358.66 shows Vulkan Pascal and Volta support
Very interesting, in our forums Krzyslaw spotted that over at laptopvideo2go there is a 358.66 driver link that shows support for Vulkan, Pascal and Volta ? Three pretty big denominators eh ?
We'll focus on Vulkan in this news item primarily as that indicates that Nvidia is adding the upcoming low-level 3D graphics API from Khronos. Vulkan is the followup for OpenGL and as many of you know, the core foundation for Vulkan, is AMD's Mantle.
It is good to see that Nvidia is willing the jump onto this bandwagon, as only when things get broadly and openly supported, they can be a success. AMD did retire Mantle due to DirectX 12 and the lack of software vendor support. They pretty much handed to code to Khronos for them to develop. The 358 series drivers also show CUDA code inclusions as well as support for upcoming NVIDIA GPU architectures, Pascal and Volta.
More here in our forums where you can find a download link as well. Nvidia surely is a busy bee alright.

Hmm. Still not sure this is really coming, little to no information besides somebody claiming that there's support in the driver. With all cautiousness, I believe it when I see it.

You need no screenshots. Just get driver, take all imports/exports for all libraries and look for new special stuff.

This is quite exciting, considering that the Vulkan API is the one that almost everyone supports and can support, not to mention being able to target pretty much any platform with.
It's always nice to see it get to the point where stuff starts to slip out, they're clearly being very through with this.
I know that emulator developers are very interested in developing Vulkan renderers.
