New Google company Calico to work on making you live longer
Google, not content with developing enhanced-reality glasses and self-driving cars, has announced a new company aimed at researching the curing of diseases and understanding the aging process. Impressive though the scope of the new start-up is, perhaps the biggest point of interest in this press release is the fact Calico is to be led by Apple chairman Arthur Levinson.
Google press release:
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – September 18, 2013 – Google today announced Calico, a new company that will focus on health and well-being, in particular the challenge of aging and associated diseases. Arthur D. Levinson, Chairman and former CEO of Genentech and Chairman of Apple, will be Chief Executive Officer and a founding investor.
Announcing this new investment, Larry Page, Google CEO said: “Illness and aging affect all our families. With some longer term, moonshot thinking around healthcare and biotechnology, I believe we can improve millions of lives. It’s impossible to imagine anyone better than Art—one of the leading scientists, entrepreneurs and CEOs of our generation—to take this new venture forward.” Art said: “I’ve devoted much of my life to science and technology, with the goal of improving human health. Larry’s focus on outsized improvements has inspired me, and I’m tremendously excited about what’s next.”
Art Levinson will remain Chairman of Genentech and a director of Hoffmann-La Roche, as well as Chairman of Apple.
Commenting on Art’s new role, Franz Humer, Chairman of Hoffmann-La Roche, said: “Art’s track record at Genentech has been exemplary, and we see an interesting potential for our companies to work together going forward. We’re delighted he’ll stay on our board.”
Tim Cook, Chief Executive Officer of Apple, said: “For too many of our friends and family, life has been cut short or the quality of their life is too often lacking. Art is one of the crazy ones who thinks it doesn’t have to be this way. There is no one better suited to lead this mission and I am excited to see the results.”

Well guys you all are missing the point!
Google's people in charge don't care about any one or any thing but them selves, this is very human, sad and true feature most of us unfortunately share (said most not all). They created this company for one single reason.... profit, simple as that. Now when they realized that eventually they are going to die like all of the rest of us petty poor and no good to them human beings, they want to extend THEIR own life's and the ones the care for so they can enjoy their wealth and power illusion for longer time, because once it is gone, that is it.
I am not saying, Google is pretty neat and useful achievement for most of us to use so I am glad it is out there.

Worst thing is that the "simpler" somebody is the bigger urge to reproduce one has, as there is not much else on their mind. And this is the majority of human beings. It is only time until our system falls down on it's knees. It already is unsustainable. Democracy & Capitalism in today's form are bound to disappear. There are too many things we do wrong. The very basic is that we somehow believe that the weak should be given a chance. And this is direct opposite of what nature is all about. You can only go against nature for certain time
