New Battlefield 5 game to be announced Next Friday
Yeah, so it's like an EA made an announcement about an announcement ? Anyway EA and DICE will Arts announce that the next Battlefield game will be revealed on Friday, May 6th.
The announcement came on the franchise's official site, with a count down ponting to 4 PM Eastern Time. The world premiere will be livestreamed, and will stars the lead development team. Unfortunately, EA's ship seems to be far less leaky than Activision's, as the existence of the world premiere event is just about all the information we have regarding the next entry in the Battlefield series. An explosion of some nature is all we can see on the event page, but some fans think the phrase 'the future of Battlefield' might be a hint as to the setting of the sequel.
Could 2016's Battlefield be the long-awaited followup to Battlefield 2142? It's certainly a possibility, but there have also been rumors that the next Battlefield will return to World War I or World War II. In other words, unless there's a major leak between now and next Friday, we're going to have to wait and see.

Personally I did like BF4 despite it's issues. I got frustrated with them at the start, but after a while they got fixed. The worst was the AMD memory leak which basically meant you couldn't play more than a round before getting a slideshow and needing to restart your PC as it was pinging off the memory limit which couldn't be flushed.
However if BF5 does have the elements I'm looking for in an FPS (COD certainly hasn't since Black Ops 1!) then I'll keep an eye on it. If not then looks like I'm moving out of the FPS arena.

I'm pretty stoked that we're finally leaving the insta-kill modern/next-gen weaponry behind. I'm more of a WW2 genre person but WW1 has rarely been done so this ought to be refreshing.
