New Battlefield 5 game to be announced Next Friday

New Battlefield 5 game to be announced Next Friday

Yeah, so it's like an EA made an announcement about an announcement ? Anyway EA and DICE will Arts announce that the next Battlefield game will be revealed on Friday, May 6th.

The announcement came on the franchise's official site, with a count down ponting to 4 PM Eastern Time. The world premiere will be livestreamed, and will stars the lead development team. Unfortunately, EA's ship seems to be far less leaky than Activision's, as the existence of the world premiere event is just about all the information we have regarding the next entry in the Battlefield series. An explosion of some nature is all we can see on the event page, but some fans think the phrase 'the future of Battlefield' might be a hint as to the setting of the sequel.

Could 2016's Battlefield be the long-awaited followup to Battlefield 2142? It's certainly a possibility, but there have also been rumors that the next Battlefield will return to World War I or World War II. In other words, unless there's a major leak between now and next Friday, we're going to have to wait and see.

Surely I can't be the only one that is just so sick of seeing these game series releasing FPS shooters.

Like, I love a good FPS.. it is my genre of choice.. but ffs, it feels like for half of my gaming life if not more, its all COD and BF and then other one offs. I'm so over these franchises.. they can release whatever time period they wish, its still just the same games over and over to me.

Its equally perplexing to me that people are so willing to spend $ on them.. don't people get tired of these games?

Battlefield 4 (despite having the worst launch in gaming history) is easily one of the best FPS games in recent years IMO. The effort DICE LA put in to make it so is almost unbelievable.

^ That may be true, but these games are still so similar in makeup. Now they're going back to a World War settings.. whoopy woo.

Seems to be gamers these days get excited and are willing to throw their money at almost anything AAA. Really annoys me.

I'm interested in a military shooter for the first time in awhile. World War 1 is rarely visited, and sounds quite interesting to visit imo.
